The Deeper Reason Why Amazon Is Laying Off Dozens of Its Engineers

It’s the first time Amazon has cut employees at its Lab126, report says.

Make sure to listen to the under 2 minute video.  Basically Lab126 is a failing effort on the whole for Amazon, low morale for it’s engineers, loss of senior talented engineer to Yahoo,, and a less than a good engineering focus for those who work there.  This news and the recent NYT article about working at Amazon that it makes me so much happier that I took myself out of the running for an innovation management position earlier this year with a recruiter who came a calling via LinkedIn.  Amazon needs to stick to it’s knitting, it doesn’t do engineering work very well without the full participation of engineers in a way that they want to be engineers, treating them like cogs in your machine isn’t an adequate work environment.  Nuff said about that – Peace Out.
